Today is Rare Disease Awareness Day. The main objective of the day is to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients’ lives.
Today I think of my love Michael Fernandez and the fight he, his family and I take in order to put the awareness out there about Churg Strauss Disease and the fight for his life . If you Google Churg-Strauss the normal description it has states that it “is a disorder marked by blood vessel inflammation. This inflammation can restrict blood flow to vital organs and tissues, sometimes permanently damaging them.” As simple as it seems its much worse when you witness what it does to the patient. Michael constantly is deal with pain from head to toe from the constricts of blood flow. His breathing has become much worse that now he uses an inhaler.
