This is my first time posting as part of the Lensbaby Circle Blog, and for this post, I decided to go with just one subject, tulips. This is partly because of the delicious glow the Lensbaby Velevet56 (the lens I used for all of my shots, and so far my only Lensbaby) lends to all photographs, and also because I need new glasses/contacts and am having difficulty focusing in manual, and thought flower close-ups might be easier to practice on. (Note: All shots were taken at f4.) For my April post, I will be brave and mix things up a bit more!
For someone like me, who normally doesn’t see tulips growing in my garden until early May, it seems a bit odd to be posting photographs of them here at the end of March, especially since we got three inches of snow last night and are expecting another three to six next Monday and Tuesday. Ugh! But thanks to the miracle of local greenhouses, there are plenty of tulips in the stores, and I have taken full advantage and loved every blissful moment, snapping away with my camera. It helps me believe that spring is hiding just around the corner, waiting to sneak up on us shivering Minnesotans when we least expect it–which is usually exactly how it happens.
And, after all, isn’t that what many of us are celebrating this weekend, whether Christian or Jew….a God of hope and surprises?

Tulips are indeed a sign of spring – as it happens, I am sitting next to a bouquet of yellow ones as I write this. The bowing purple one is my favourite of your series, the V56 lens is truly a wonderful lens. Seems as winter is being as stubborn in your part of the world as it is here in Norway; enough already, right? Let’s cross our fingers for the next blog circle round being a celebration of the wonders of spring!

Isn’t the Velvet56 amazing? Thanks for taking the time to look at my tulips! We got snow again last night and are expecting more this weekend…sigh. Yes, let us hope that by May first we all have some spring photos to share 🙂

All the photos were lovely Barbara. I should drag my lens baby out one of these days. I find myself drawn so much to just nature shots and a few still lifes though. I like looking at everyone’s work though…it’s encouraging..Glad you’re enjoying this project of yours.
