A Hot Chocolate Kind of Day. And the Super Bowl Thing.

A snowy, chilly, February Saturday…I’ve spent the afternoon snuggling with Fiona (our cocker spaniel) on the couch, drinking hot chocolate–with lots of marshmallows, of course–and reading my new book about the Nazi Occupation of Paris, Les Parisiennes: Resistance, Collaboration, and the Women of Paris Under Nazi Occupation, by Anne Sebba. an autumn photo montage

George had vacation last week, so we had a staycation relaxing here at home, with a couple of jaunts to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, and Lake Calhoun in South Minneapolis. We are loving Autumn here in Minnesota! Since I started photography I’m finding that I enjoy the season more than ever, as I notice the beauty of the little things, things I never noticed before but actively seek out now, hoping to capture them with my camera.

What Do April Snowstorms Bring?

Apparently, they bring spring?! We woke up to almost 10″ of wet, heavy snow, dreary gray skies, and more snow coming down. Yet by noon or so, the snow had stopped, and the sky had turned a beautiful blue. Tonight, as I type this, I can hear the steady drip-drip of melting snow from the roof over the back door, which is partly open, it’s so warm–38 degrees is a veritable heat wave here in Minnesota, after months submerged in the polar vortex!

It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want–oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it makes your heart fairly ache, You want it so! (Mark Twain)

A few pictures of the city I’ve lived in most of my life (except for college in Boston), and loved for all of it: Minneapolis, Minnesota.
